I Understand Because I've Been There.

About Kirsty

Hi, I'm Kirsty.

I'm a mum of five, a qualified social worker, a Somatic Trauma-Informed Coach and a Narcissistic Abuse Specialist.

But before any of that, I'm a survivor too.

I support women who have experienced narcissistic abuse and coercive control. Women who on the outside may look like they're coping, but underneath are exhausted, walking on eggshells and quietly wondering if they're losing themselves.

Why This Work Matters To Me

This work is deeply personal because I've lived it.

I've experienced narcissistic abuse, domestic abuse and coercive control firsthand.

I stayed when I swore I never would.

I've felt the pull to go back even when I knew better.

I've questioned myself, doubted my instincts and watched the impact of trauma ripple through the people I love most.

That's why I do this work.

Not because I learned about it in a textbook, but because I've lived it.

What Changed Everything

What I came to understand through my own healing journey is that trauma doesn't live in the mind alone.

It lives in the body.

You cannot always think your way out of how you feel.

Your nervous system has been shaped by what you've been through, and healing needs to happen at that level too.

Learning about trauma, attachment, the nervous system and somatic healing changed everything for me.

For the first time, my reactions made sense.

I realised I wasn't weak, broken or failing.

My body was doing exactly what it had learned to do in order to survive.

It's Not About Going Back

I don't believe healing is about going back to who you were before.

Many of us don't want to go back.

The version of ourselves before the trauma often spent years people-pleasing, abandoning our own needs and ignoring our intuition.

Healing isn't about becoming who you were.

It's about becoming who you are now.

It's about learning to trust yourself, to connect with your own voice and build a life that feels safe, authentic and aligned with who you are becoming.

My Approach

My approach is trauma-informed, nervous-system-led and grounded in both professional knowledge and lived experience.

I help women understand what's happening in their body and mind so that the reactions that feel confusing finally start to make sense.

Because when you understand why you feel the way you do, you can begin to make different choices.

Together we work on creating safety, rebuilding self-trust and developing practical tools that support lasting change.

Professional Experience

My background as a social worker has given me the privilege of supporting people through some of the most challenging periods of their lives, including trauma, abuse, loss, neurodiversity and major life transitions.

Combined with my own lived experience, this has shaped a coaching approach that is compassionate, practical and deeply trauma-informed.

I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to understand our experiences, rebuild trust in ourselves and begin making choices from a place of self-awareness rather than survival.

You're in the right place.

You don't need fixing.

You deserve understanding, support and a space where healing can take root.

And that's exactly what Rising Roots was created to offer.
